MTED and PACER Plus Collaborate to Boost Investment Promotion

Increasing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into Tonga remains a top priority for the Government. To support this objective, the Ministry of Trade & Economic Development (MTED), with the support of the PACER Plus Implementation Unit (PPIU), has been working to enhance its investment promotion and facilitation capacity.

This week, MTED welcomed an investment mission led by Dr. Alisi Kautoke Holani and Mr. Juan Anzola from PACER Plus. The mission focused on developing and validating a suite of key investment promotion tools for Tonga, including:

✅ A 5-Year Investment Promotion & Facilitation Strategy

✅ A Country Value Proposition

✅ An Investment Promotion Brochure and Video

✅ A Dedicated Investment Website

As part of the mission, targeted capacity building was also delivered to the Ministry’s Investment Promotion Unit (IPU) staff, with training in critical areas such as market intelligence and the use of social media for investment promotion. These tools and initiatives were further validated during a stakeholder workshop that brought together representatives from key government agencies and the private sector.

MTED expresses its sincere appreciation to the PACER Plus Implementation Unit for its ongoing support and partnership, and looks forward to advancing efforts to attract quality and sustainable FDI to Tonga
