78 Newly Registered MSMEs Benefit from MTED Outer Islands Training Programme

The Ministry of Trade and Economic Development successfully completed its Outer Islands Formal Business Entrepreneurship Training Programme across Vavaʻu, ‘Eua and Haʻapai, with a total of 78 newly registered businesses participating.

The programme began in Vavaʻu from 3 to 6 March, where 40 businesses took part, followed by Haʻapai from 9 to 11 May 2026 with 18 businesses and ‘Eua from 17 to 18 March with 20 businesses.

Participants received training in four key areas: Strategic Management and Business Planning, Human Resource Management, Basic Financial Management and Record Keeping, and Marketing and Sales.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of newly registered businesses by improving their skills in business operations, financial management, staff management, and market development.

This initiative reflected MTED’s commitment to supporting business development in the outer islands and promoting stronger private sector growth in Tonga.
