Joint Government Taskforce Conducts Shop Inspections Across Tongatapu

Ten teams from the Government’s Inter-Agency Taskforce carried out coordinated inspections across Tongatapu to ensure that retail outlets continue to comply with the laws and regulations governing business operations particularly those relating to the safety and reliability of goods sold to consumers.

The Inter-Agency Taskforce is a collaborative initiative involving officers from the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Division of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED), the Ministry of Revenue and Customs (MORC), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forests (MAFF), and officials from the Retirement Fund.

The Minister for Trade and Economic Development, Hon. Kapelieli Lanumata, joined the inspection teams to lend his support and encouragement to the ongoing efforts to promote fair trade practices and consumer protection across the Kingdom.
