𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬: 𝐌𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐮!

21 – 29 Oct: MTED hosted a series of training sessions aimed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) around Tongatapu. This initiative helped over 60 new registered local businesses across sectors like manufacturing, professional services, and export ready business focusing on four basic essential areas for business success:

Strategic Management – Conducted by Paleti Fonua

Accounting & Financial Management – Conducted by Linita Tu’ihalangingie

Human Resource Management – Conducted by Patiola Mapukava

Sales & Marketing – Conducted by Enna Hingano

Each session offered insights to empower these businesses in their journey to thrive in a competitive market. Sessions also addressed key challenges faced by local businesses, following the recent impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha’apai volcanic eruption.

The training program was made possible with collaboration from the Tonga Business Accelerator Project (TBAP), the Market Development Facility (MDF), the Pacific Labour Facility (PLF), and funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), MFAT all committed to fostering resilience and growth within Tonga’s economy.
