The Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED) announces the appointment of Hon. Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Viliami Uasikē Lātū, as Minister for Trade and Economic Development. Hon. Dr. Lātū will also continue to serve concurrently as Minister of Justice. This dual responsibility underscores the government’s commitment to aligning robust legal frameworks with progressive economic policy.

Under his leadership, MTED will advance its mission to foster resilient, sustainable and inclusive economic growth for Tonga. Key to this will be strengthening vital collaborations between government, the private sector and development partners.
