The Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, in collaboration with Standards Australia and with the support of the PACER Plus Implementation Unit, is undertaking a project to establish a Tonga Standardisation Roadmap. The roadmap will provide guidance on how to strengthen and streamline Tonga’s standardisation system.

The objective of this project is to develop a Standardisation Roadmap for Tonga that will support improving the adoption of standards to increase competitiveness of Tonga’s export products and services, to support environmental and built environment resilience and to increase the standards of imported goods and local services for the protection of consumers. Last week the ministry held consultation workshops in Tonga and Vava’u with the local government, line ministries, non-government organization, businesses and its staff.
